Executive Brief

The Assignment Was Not to Promote Laboratory Testing. It Was to Build the Mobile Operation That Could Deliver It.

An established Michigan medical testing laboratory engaged Unicus to expand its existing COVID-19 testing capability into mobile operations. The requirement extended beyond a new brand or awareness campaign. It demanded a complete field-testing system capable of bringing laboratory-based PCR testing directly to businesses, retail locations, schools, community sites, and other remote environments.

Unicus created the TubiLab brand and helped design, procure, build, staff, launch, and manage the operation. Custom-modified vehicles, insulated testing pods, indoor stations, remote-location contracts, trained personnel, customer-registration workflows, and secure digital results delivery were developed as connected parts of one operating model.

Business Mandate

Extend a Fixed Laboratory Into the Field Without Losing Control of Safety, Information, Staffing, or Results.

The client already possessed laboratory testing capability. The business mandate was to create everything required around that capability so testing could be delivered safely, securely, and consistently across multiple remote environments.

  1. R-01

    Deployable Testing Infrastructure

Create mobile vehicles, outdoor testing pods, and indoor stations capable of operating across changing locations and weather conditions.

  2. R-02

    Controlled Patient Workflow

Standardize registration, identity, specimen collection, laboratory routing, and secure results delivery from first contact through completion.

  3. R-03

    Field Personnel & Procedures

Recruit, train, schedule, and manage the personnel required to operate testing locations professionally and consistently.

  4. R-04

    Location & Program Development

Secure host locations and structure corporate, school, retail, community, and remote testing programs around real operating conditions.

System Architecture

Five Connected Systems. One Mobile Testing Operation.

The laboratory test was only one component. A functioning mobile program required physical infrastructure, host locations, secure information flow, trained personnel, and daily field coordination to operate as one system.

Business Significance

Brand, Fabrication, Software, Contracts, Staffing, Logistics, and Healthcare Operations—Designed Together.

Laboratory capacity alone could not create mobile access. The operating value came from integrating deployable testing environments, secure patient information, field personnel, host locations, promotion, specimen workflows, and results delivery into one coordinated system.
